ChatGPT Dots: What businesses should know now

What a dot can take on

Setup starts on desktop. You can connect apps; work on your own computer requires it to be connected and online. Dots can delegate parts of an assignment to ChatGPT Work or Codex, and you can inspect their activity. Source: OpenAI – Getting started with Dots.

Responsibility needs boundaries

OpenAI describes automatic action reviews against instructions and permissions. Asking for a draft does not automatically authorise sending it. Stopping work also requires care: pausing does not stop every delegated task or future schedule. Source: OpenAI – Control your dot.

Our assessment: start with a manageable workflow

For an initial business trial, we would choose a narrowly defined information task. Preparing a weekly project meeting is one example: what has been decided, which responses are missing, and which deadlines need attention? This is a suggested use case, not a report of a completed BEYWARE customer deployment.

An assignment could read:

Every Monday, prepare an overview from the approved project plan. List outstanding decisions with their sources and draft follow-up questions. Submit everything for review. Do not send messages or change appointments.

Before starting, the team should agree which sources are in scope, who reviews the results and when the assignment ends. Two weeks with one project are easier to assess than handing over responsibility for an entire business.

How we would measure value

• Time: How long does preparation take with and without assistance?
• Traceability: Can statements be traced to the approved sources?
• Rework: Which assignments or summaries need correcting?
